What Suzette Covers in This Session

A working overview of the VA Aid & Attendance benefit for teams that talk with Veterans and surviving spouses every day — what the benefit is, who may qualify, and how it fits into a family’s plan for paying for care.

  • The mission behind Patriot Angels Why educating families about VA benefits matters, and how we work alongside communities & in-home care agencies.
  • An overview of Aid & Attendance What the benefit pays, how it is treated as an individual benefit, and what it is not.
  • Who may qualify Wartime service, care needs, income, and net worth — explained in plain language.
  • How the application process works What families need to gather, what we handle, and why the filing date matters.
  • Spotting opportunities earlier Questions your team can ask during a tour or an assessment to surface a possible claim sooner.
  • Answering affordability questions How the benefit can help families move forward when cost is the barrier.

2026 Aid & Attendance Rates

Maximum monthly amounts in effect December 1, 2025 through November 30, 2026. Payments are tax-free and are paid directly to the Veteran or surviving spouse.

Household Maximum Monthly Benefit
Surviving Spouse $1,558
Single Veteran $2,424
Married Veteran $2,874
Two Married Veterans $3,845

The 2026 net worth limit is $163,699. Actual amounts depend on a household’s income and unreimbursed medical expenses, so a family’s benefit may be lower than the maximum shown. A Benefit Specialist can review an individual situation and explain plainly where the Veteran or surviving spouse stands.
